Some abbreviations often appear in thermoplastic composite materials. This paper introduces the following:

1. CFRTP: abbreviation of continuous fiber reinforced thermoplastic composites, continuous fiber reinforced thermoplastic composites. As the name suggests, the reinforcing material of this material is continuous fiber, which corresponds to long fiber reinforced thermoplastic composite (LFT) and short fiber reinforced thermoplastic composite (SFT).

2. GMT: abbreviation of glass mat reinforced thermoplastic, glass mat reinforced thermoplastic composite. Generally, the fiber content of GMT is between 30wt% and 40wt%, which is higher than that of ordinary injection molding reinforced plastics. Moreover, it uses a continuous glass fiber needled felt, which is continuously paved into a felt and given a certain strength by needling. It has a three-dimensional structure, and there are fibers in all directions, which greatly improves the anisotropy of reinforced plastics. It is widely used in various fields.

3. RTP: it is the abbreviation of continuous fiber reinforcedthermoplastic composites, which is reinforced thermoplastic pipes. RTP pipe is an important application field of CFRTP coil at present. The application of domestic RTP pipe is still in its infancy, but it has great potential.

4. LFT: it is the abbreviation of long fiberreinforced thermoplastics. There are two kinds of long fiber reinforced thermoplastic composites: lft-g (granules) and lft-d (direct). Compared with ordinary fiber-reinforced thermoplastic materials, generally, the fiber length in fiber-reinforced thermoplastic materials is less than 1 mm, while in LFT, the fiber length is generally more than 2 mm. With the gradual maturity of the molding process, the fiber length in LFT can be maintained at more than 5 mm. The resin is impregnated with long fibers through the mold to get a long strip fully soaked by the resin, and then cut into the required length as required.

5. SMC: it is the abbreviation of sheet moldingcompound. Sheet molding compound is a kind of FRP. The main raw materials are GF (special yarn), MD (filler) and various additives. The commonly used resin is unsaturated polyester resin. SMC has high mechanical strength, flame retardancy, arc resistance, dielectric strength and voltage resistance, and this material is easy to color. It is usually used for various insulating partitions in electric cabinets.

6. BMC: it is the abbreviation of bulk moldingcompound. The bulk molding compound is a kind of paste made of unsaturated polyester resin, low shrinkage / low profile additives, initiators, internal release agents, mineral fillers, etc. and then added with thickeners, colorants, etc. with glass fibers of different lengths, it is stirred in a special kettle for thickening process, and finally forms a bulk intermediate material, which can be used for molding and injection molding. BMC has more minerals than SMC, and its electrical properties and chemical corrosion resistance are good. The application in motor shell has obvious advantages.
